Winter has finally arrived

This morning I woke up to a nice thin layer of snow outside. Told you it would be a big contrast to what I posted yesterday! The photos below show the view from outside my uni room window this morning. There was a slightly more substantial layer of snow about half an hour before I took these photos. All the photos in this post were taken with my digital compact camera due to the fact my SLR is currently being sent off for minor repairs. So these pictures aren't the best quality, but I thought it would share them anyway.

With me having no lectures today, I popped outside to have a wander round the campus and capture some of the snowy scenes. As the morning went on, the snow became much more like sleet, and the remaining snow began to disappear.

Although the snow really was quite light this morning, it's maybe a sign of things to come in the next month or so. It really is good to finally welcome proper winter weather, following the strange mild, rainy and dull weather we've had for the last month in the south east.

Wherever you are, enjoy the wintery scenes around the country today. Also I hope the snow doesn't cause you too many problems getting around- I know that other parts of the UK are expecting more heavy snow throughout today. Anyway, I'm off to go and get some lunch and get a bit of work done, so I'll leave today's post at that. Have a great day :D

Hi Joe, All of a sudden I can't keep up with you :-) We have snow too but not as much as some, we also had a few sunny spells this afternoon :-) It looks like you have plenty of possibilities for bird life there which I'm sure is some compensation for missing your own garden.

I enjoyed the photos of the Comma on the previous post, I saw very few of them last year, let's hope this year will be much better!

Looks like the uni is in a nice setting so you may get some bird spotting in between lectures.

Hi Jan,

Haha thank you, I have a feeling posts will be very on and off for the next month or so though, as I don't have my SLR here due to the fact it's been sent off for repairs. But I shall post what I can! Don't know about you but we've had a lot more snow today than we did on Monday when I posted this. May get around to posting those pictures later but don't want it to get too repetitive!

And yes, lots and lots of bird life here on the uni campus, there's always stuff to see which is nice. Ahh thank you, yes they were few and far between back home for us too.

Hi John,

Thanks for the comment. Yes, the university campus really is great for bird life, there's always stuff to see. Even looking straight out of my window in my halls I can see all sorts of stuff.

Funnily enough, a bit of birdwatching is involved in one of my modules this term, and I might post about that in more detail either this evening or tomorrow :)
