Joining Twitter

Just to let you all know that I have now made a Twitter account for anything related to my blog. You may have noticed the Twitter widget on the right of the screen, which shows all of my recent tweets. I have decided to create an account for a number of reasons.

Firstly, it will be really useful for giving people short updates on stuff that's going on here when I don't have enough time for doing full posts on stuff. So if I haven't done a post in a few days, there'll be a fairly chance I will have tweeted about something instead. Also I'll be able to let you know if I'm currently working on a post and when to expect it posted and stuff. And finally, it allows me to just share the odd thing that occurs, such as an observation or something, that isn't really long enough for it to be worth writing a full post about.

Anyway, as you've probably seen, my Twitter username is JoeWG2012 (the WG standing for wildlife garden). Follow me if you do have a Twitter account, and I'll follow you back :) I have no idea how many of you use Twitter so I don't know whether this will be a good idea or not. But anyway, I really recommend those of you who haven't got a Twitter account yet should jump aboard. Its free to join, and getting used to it doesn't take very long at all. Also its good to be able to follow naturalists such as Chris Packham, and conservation organisations such as the BTO. Honestly, its worth it! I've had a personal twitter account for ages now and I was really sceptical at first, but its one of those things where you'll only really understand what I mean when you try it yourself.

The screenshot below shows the layout of Twitter for those who haven't seen it before:

Anyway, hopefully some of you will at least notice the Twitter feed on the right of my blog even if you don't create an account yourself. Happy tweeting everyone!

I did get round to opening a Facebook account to follow some things of interest but have never seriously considered Twitter as a valid means of communication. That's what comes of being a full paid up grumpy old luddite. ;)

Hi Joe, It's so good to see you here again. I'm afraid I have never really seen the attraction of Twitter but know I am in the minority ;-) I have just never really 'got' it. However I look forward to seeing some blog posts from you when time allows. I expect you are still heavily involved with studying. Have you made a decision yet about your future career. Apologies if I have asked that before :-)

Hi John and Jan,

John- Yeah to be honest its more a case of what suits you I guess :) The good thing is, my twitter feed will just be on the side of the page, so even people like you who aren't on twitter can still see my most recent tweets and stuff. I'll see how it goes :)

Jan- Thank you, I really have missed blogging on a regular basis, and its only when you get back to it again when you realise what you're missing. And yeah I see what you're saying there. Although I thought exactly the same thing before I started my personal twitter account a few months ago. It was only after quite a few people suggested trying it that I finally gave in and actually tried it myself. My experience of it so far has only been positive really. But I guess it just doesn't suit some people and I understand that :) And yeah, studying has pretty much filled my time recently, final exams in the summer so fingers crossed for those :) And as far as that goes, I hope to go to Reading Universtity to study Ecology and Conservation, then probably move into that field of work but I'm not 100% sure about that part yet :) Thank you for asking, and no you haven't asked before :D

Also, the previous comment was deleted as I realised I made a few spelling errors after I had posted it :)
