A couple of weeks ago, when I went outside to feed our rabbits one evening, soon after it had rained, I noticed a large number of slugs and snails on the ground. I went back inside to get my camera and went back outside again. I took the photos below:

It was quite strange to see such a large group of them, even on a rainy night. It was hard to avoid standing on them as they were all on the garden path. Some of them had some really interesting colours too.
I know this has been the first post in a while, but with the good weather we are promised for the rest of this week, hopefully I can do some garden birdwatching. Around our area, the birds have been feeding fairly consistantly throughout the summer and the feeders haven't really been quiet at all recently. One last note: sorry for not commenting and visiting your blogs as much as usual recently. I will get back to it.

Great photos Joe. You have captured the slugs so well. I like seeing their little orange ridge at the bottom.
A lovely set of photos Joe. It is surprising just how many come out some nights.
Great post Joe. I don't get many slugs and snails in my garden, believe it or not. No grass. I did when I had a large garden with grass though! I do like snails.
Wow, now THOSE are some slugs, Joe! Ours are tiny compared to those...lol. Welcome back, we've missed you here. :c)
They are odd looking creatures for sure! I see them crawling on the rock wall outside my window. Nice photos of them Joe!!
Hi Joe, nice to have you back. I have to admit I'm not overly keen on slugs and with the amount of damage that snails do in my garden I don't like them anywhere as much as I did as a child! When I was little I used to have great fun collecting snails, then lining them up, pouring water over them and seeing which one would reach a certain point first, it amuses me now to think how much I enjoyed 'snail racing'!
Hi Joe - please don't worry about not getting to visit and write much recently - I for one knows how difficult it can be!! Looks as if you could do with a few hedgehogs in your garden or the odd toad! Have a good week Miranda
Hi again Joe, I agree with Jan, great to see you back. I expect you'll have to watch how much time you spend here this school year :-)
Great (horrible) photos of the slugs there! I see the same some nights when out feeding our guinea pigs. I have to watch where I stand (shiver, shiver).
Have a good week :-D
Thanks to everyone for your comments,
There are some very mixed feelings about the slugs and snails in your gardens! I'm not a great fan of slugs and snails myself, but they are quite incredible in their own way :)
Thanks again!
